Lawrence Experience Pays Life Dividends—Bequest

Lawrence Athletics were an exceptional part of my overall educational experience. I was on the cross country and track team and was a member of the 1983 conference championship cross country team. Unlike Division I schools, any student can be on athletic teams at Lawrence since it is a non-scholarship Division III school. This was critical for me because I was, at best, an average athlete when I started on the team but was able to grow and improve with the team. Athletics have taught me to work as a together for a common goal and the life-rewards of working at something consistently. The friendships I formed continue to this day. And I have continued to exercise branching off into other sports over the three decades since I graduated. Whoever said that "strong body, strong mind" thing was on to something, and I think it has contributed to my life successes. So cheers to Lawrence athletics and Go Vikings!!

Giving back to Lawrence has been important to me. The college's financial support to me was critical, and my Lawrence experience has been paying me life dividends ever since. It gives me great satisfaction to give back to the college through annual gifts, and writing Lawrence into my estate plan. I am especially excited about the commitment I have made to the Cross Country and Track endowment as it will be a gift which benefits the University in perpetuity. It is satisfying to know that future Lawrence athletes will benefit from this gift. It also is good to know that this will free up University funds for other valuable endeavors.
