Gifts of Learning — Bequest and Gift of Art

Gifts of Learning — Bequest and Gift of Art

Carol L. Korda '71 and Bruce Dalgaard

I graduated in 1971 and majored in Economics. Since the Lawrence London program was just beginning in 1970, my classmate, Anne Hackett, and I, struck out on our own study abroad program at the University of Nottingham in England. This experience whetted my appetite for further travel which didn't occur until twenty-seven years later when I met my husband, Bruce. After graduation, I worked in investments and portfolio management at First Bank System which is now US Bank.

I have supported the Lawrence Fund for many years and I have been a member of the Lawrence-Downer Legacy Circle since 2006. I also completed a four-year term on the Lawrence University Alumni Board and served on its Community Engagement Committee and the More Light! Capital Campaign Committee in 2007.

Supporting Lawrence with my time and resources has always been important. With my 50th Reunion in 2021, and the Be the Light! Campaign, I also wanted to do something special to honor all that Lawrence has given me.

Bruce and I have included Lawrence in our wills and designate a collection of Japanese woodblock prints—which we acquired in 1989 after traveling to Asia—for the Wriston art collection. It feels good to have these plans in place and know our gift will help support students and faculty for years to come.
