Supporting the Transformational Experience – Retirement and Life Insurance Beneficiaries
Bill Hochkammer '66
My Lawrence education is one of my most important life experiences. It prepared me well for law school and for a rewarding professional and personal life. I am forever thankful for the opportunity to attend Lawrence, for the education I received and the friends I made. I was able to attend Lawrence only because most of my costs were funded by an anonymous donor. Because I want to make the same opportunity available to others, I funded an endowed scholarship and add to the fund annually. Providing this scholarship support is my most important philanthropic goal.
I also recognize how important it is that Lawrence receives expendable funds that can be used for whatever endeavors are most important to it at the time. This support is critical to carrying out Lawrence's strategic initiatives and balancing its annual budget. Lawrence continues to make great strides in improving the opportunities for its students and expendable funds produce the most immediate impact. That is why I make an annual unrestricted contribution to the Lawrence Fund. Because I would like my support of Lawrence through unrestricted contributions to extend beyond my lifetime, I joined the Legacy Circle and named Lawrence as the beneficiary of some of my retirement and life insurance benefits.
I encourage all of us who love Lawrence to make a deferred gift to extend our financial support of Lawrence beyond our lifetimes, so future generations of students can benefit from the transformational experience which Lawrence provides.

"Many students take for granted what a university has to offer. However, I am thankful every single day for the opportunity to attend this prestigious school. At Lawrence, you have the ability to engage in Socratic debates about the world we live in at dinner, play recreational or NCAA sports, and talk one on one with brilliant professors. At Lawrence, you don't just 'learn' a subject, you are immersed in it. You dive into the liberal arts and these professors show you the beauty in it all, and how everything is tied together. I am a Biochemistry major with a soft spot for rocket science, philosophy, and evolution. Lawrence is my dream school, and it would have never been possible without the Dr. Irving Auld and Dorothy Roher Auld Scholarship. I am forever grateful for their generosity."
